Well, the .srt files should have the exact same name as the video file, plus an additional .srt extension. That should work with most media players. Many players also recognize extensions like "" or "" for the same video file.

But in your case, if the subtitles are correct but the start times are not, then the player seems to use the correct subtitle file but the timings are screwed up. For such corrections, the only recipe i know is to download some GUI subtitle editor tool and fix the timings manually...
