Thorpie it took guts to write your book. You were our pride and joy for Australia in the pool and the difficulties were enormous for a young man; not something that the average Joe could handle. Mate you are a great athlete with an extraordinary talent. I agree with Don Talbot aka Ming the Merciless, that you left the pool to early, but that's in the past now. You've still got it, ever given thought of ocean swimming? It can actually be relaxing and I'm sure that you'd blitz it. From an old Padstow boy.

Ian, no matter what happens in the future, your are a Great young Man, and inspiration to thousands and thousands of people (more than I think you know). You are still young and you can make your future anything you want it to be, including participating in the 2016 Olympics, only 4 years away. You will still be young. If that is what you want to do. For me you will always be one of the greatest swimming champions of all time. So relax and cherish your accomplishments. I will be following you in the future, whatever you wish it to be. D'ont get depressed champ, you did more than anyone I know. You have unbeleivable charisma...do you know that ??

Fear and anxiety a aargh! I was so sympathetic to hear you explain how you felt in the pool! Not many people that havnt experienced the bodies perceived fear response in normal situations realize the impact it has! It is a terrible limitless experience. I know you will reach your height and peak as a champion once more ! you are a legend !
