Is there any way to extract subtitle bitmaps for a hardsubed video?
I need to use other tools to ocr the subtitle. It seems subrip cannot work well with languages like Chinese.

Hi wang, if you select some output for DVD Authoring (e.g. Scenarist), you will get one text file and a series of bitmaps.

Hi, zuggy I wanted to leave you a private message and I followed your instructions. I just made an username on Doom9's Forum (username: ciscolinux) but when I attempted to write you something, it says that I have to wait for 5 days. Well, if you - PM one of your emails, if not I guess I have to wait for 5 days :)

Hi,
I'd like to remove 'deep-coded' subtitles (the movie was probably recoded from tv). When I run it in SubRip the film shows beautifully, without the text. I can't find out, however, how to save this version. There must be a way.
Thanks a lot & all the best,
George

Greetings from Vienna!
I've been searching the 'Net, but I can't find a GENERIC icon file for the .SRT file type. Can you please let me know where I can find it? I'm using WinXP SP3.
Many thanks in advance.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Kind regards,
Valentin

With some 720p or 1080p subtitle sub and idx files, subrip isn't able to display the subtitles, and you can see it's because the window subrip displays is too small to see the text to rip. Sometimes you just see the very top of the text, which is not usable. Is there a work around for this?

Subrip is not suitable for HD subtitles. ATM there is noone who is interrested to make this feature. Fortunately there are another utilities, that can make this job for you.

Hi. I tried version 1.5b4 to get the subs from a dvd. When the process was completed i tried to save the file but i couldn't. The program wouldn't open the window to pic a name for the file. I used version 1.4b3 and everything worked fine. I believe there is a bug in the program.

Hi Theodore, thank you for the info. I will try to fix it.

Hello, can I try to translate program to Lithuanian language? And if I'll not translate it full to send it in as to use it in future?

I'm allways gettings OCR problem with certain characters "ą?", it recognizes just tail of letter a and question mark without dot under it.
http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/407/tailt.png
I just enter it as "#nos?" and then replace after "a#nos" with "ą".
BTW, tails of letters in 2 tv channels are'nt connected with letter itself, can I somehow edit character recognizion higher for bottom so that tails can be with letter?
zuggy replies:

edit character recognizion: Sorry, it is not possible with the present recognition engine. Your workaround is the best you can do.

Is it normal, that after 15000 subpictures, program stops?
zuggy replies:
3.12.2012 (12:02)X
It's not normal. Can you post this subtitle in vobsub format?
CNN replies:

Ok, i sorted thing out, the program crashes when hits 15k subpics because window with menu options "File, Corrections, Output Format" reaches 2MB (15k subpics). The fix for it is to pause OCR, save it, clear the window and then resume.

Hi there.
Is there any "technical specification" or documentation available for the .SRT file format (espacially the formatting section font size, color, orientation....)?
The only thing I got is a .SRT playback software comparison site with some examples that show "extreme" situations regarding extreme subtitle inserting...

Many thanks for keeping subtitles alive!!#

Hi Ruben, unfortunately there is no official technical specification. The best I'd ever seen is on the page you mentioned.

Hi
I change a character in a file matrix.sum. Then I try to rebuild the file subtitle.srt with that matrix, but the result is the same, does not update the character.
In particular is a character 'i' that appears as the character 'l'
What am I doing wrong?
Thank in advance

You are doing everything right, but I and l characters are too similar (on some DVDs even identical). You can change the sensibility in "Advanced OCR Setup", it may help. Or better, try to process "Post OCR Correction".

I like this subrip for ripping DVD the best but I can't seem to find a way to use it for blu ray movies because it's .m2ts instead of .VOB... Is there any plan for the future to include Blu-Ray support or .M2TS or .TS support?
zuggy replies:

Hi, none of these formats are planned, sorry. There is some tool, that can do it, i cannot remember the name, just try to google it...

Simply type the unknown character by your keyboard...
